October 2025: What is the best customer service you ever received? Describe what happened.
Contributor of the prompt: *Julie Rose
When you think about the best customer service you’ve ever had, most people might picture a big name store or maybe a restaurant that gave them a free dessert for their birthday. For me, the very best service didn’t come from a place like that at all, it came from our mobile mechanic.
Now, I’ve been fortunate to have several great experiences with customer service over the years, but this one stands out because of how consistently above-and-beyond they’ve been, not just for me, but for my family too. They’ve worked on our vehicles and my mom’s, and every time I’ve been impressed with their honesty and integrity.
One situation really sticks with me. They originally quoted us over $1,000 in parts and repairs for our truck. I braced myself for the expense because let’s be real, vehicles are never cheap to maintain. But here’s the part that blew me away… once they got into the work, they realized the truck didn’t need all those repairs after all. Instead of doing the unnecessary work and charging us anyway, they adjusted everything and only fixed what was actually needed. That level of honesty you don’t come across it every day, especially in the world of car repairs. I remember thinking, wow, they really care about their customers, not just their bottom line.
And it hasn’t just been a one-time thing. On several different occasions, they’ve come out to diagnose an issue and, instead of pressuring us to hire them, they’ve given my husband suggestions on how he could fix it himself. Can you imagine a mechanic willingly giving you the option to do it on your own instead of trying to squeeze out every dollar? That’s rare and it says so much about their character.
That’s what makes their service the best in my eyes. It’s not about flashy extras or trying to impress. It’s about trust, honesty, and respect. When you find someone who’s skilled at what they do and operate with that kind of integrity, you hold onto them. You recommend them to your friends. You become a loyal customer for life.
To me, the best customer service comes down to this… do they leave you better off than when you came to them? Our mobile mechanic has done that every single time, and it’s set the bar for what I now expect in any service I receive. It’s also a reminder of how I want to show up in my own work, with honesty, care, and a willingness to truly serve people well.
Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about fixing cars. It’s about building trust, and that’s something money can’t buy.
