May 2025 Blog Prompt: When it comes time to outsource some business tasks and hire—how do you choose whom to hire?
Contributor of the prompt: *Luci McMonagle

Let me take you back to a moment that felt risky, but turned out to be one of the smartest moves I’ve made.

I had been in business for several years; it was my first business. Money was tight, but I also knew something else, if I kept trying to do everything myself, I was going to stall out, or burn out, or both.

So, I did the unthinkable: I hired an office assistant before I could technically afford it.

It was scary. I had to shift some things around and bet on my own growth. But guess what? That decision freed me up to focus on what only I could do, serving my clients, showing up fully, and building what I had envisioned. It was the support I didn’t even realize I’d been craving. And it paid off.

Fast forward to today, I’m building Roots & Boots Intentional Living, my new health coaching biz, and guess what? That familiar feeling is creeping in. I’m wearing all the hats again: coach, content creator, admin, tech support, social media manager, and CEO. It’s a lot.

But this time, I won’t wait. The moment I know it’s time to bring on help again, whether it’s an admin, a , or someone to take over bookkeeping, I’m doing it. No guilt. No hesitation.

Here’s the truth: you are not supposed to do it all. You’re supposed to do what only you can do, and trust others with the rest.

So how do you know who to hire? Start with the tasks that drain you or slow you down. What’s keeping you from serving your people or scaling your impact? That’s your clue.

You don’t grow then get help. You get help so you can grow.

And if you need someone to give you permission to take that leap, here it is.

Let go of the cape. You’re not meant to be Superwoman. You’re meant to be visionary.
