Pivoting with Purpose: How I’ve Learned to Navigate Change in My Business
Running a business is rarely a straight path. When I first started my Nurse Next Door journey, I
had big hopes, clear goals, and a vision of how things would unfold. Like many entrepreneurs, I
quickly learned that not everything works out exactly the way you plan.
I’ve had to make several pivots in my business when certain strategies didn’t bring the results I
expected. Whether it was a marketing idea that didn’t gain traction, a partnership that didn’t
move forward, or outreach efforts that didn’t connect the way I hoped, each challenge taught
me an important lesson: giving up is not an option.
Instead of seeing setbacks as failures, I now see them as redirections.
When something doesn’t work, I don’t stop — I adjust. I try another approach. Sometimes it’s a
small change, sometimes it’s a new strategy altogether. But every pivot brings me closer to
understanding what truly works for my community and my business.
One of the biggest tools that helps me navigate change is resetting my mindset.
Whenever I feel discouraged, I pause and remind myself why I started this business in the first
place — to support seniors, to bring compassionate care into homes, and to make a real
difference in people’s lives. Reconnecting with that purpose gives me renewed motivation and
clarity. It reminds me that challenges are part of growth, not signs to quit.
I also believe strongly in taking small steps.
Big changes don’t have to happen all at once. Sometimes progress looks like one new
connection, one new outreach effort, one improved process, or one new idea tested at a time.
Small consistent actions build momentum — and momentum builds success.
Most importantly, I’ve learned to believe in myself.
Entrepreneurship requires patience, courage, and faith in your own abilities. Even when things
feel slow or uncertain, I hold onto the belief that with effort, learning, and persistence, things
will work out in the end.
Pivoting isn’t about starting over — it’s about growing smarter.
Every shift I’ve made in my Nurse Next Door business has helped me become stronger, more
adaptable, and more confident as a business owner. Challenges have taught me resilience,
creativity, and the importance of staying connected to my purpose.
If you’re facing changes in your own business, remember this:
Reset your mindset. Take small steps. Trust yourself. Keep it simple. And never give up.
Sometimes the pivot is exactly what leads you to success.
